We want to get as many medical students involved in what we are doing as possible. It is so important that we understand how the NHS works and are involved in debates about the future of health care. As such, we do not charge any fees for membership or to attend any of our events.
Thus, we are greatly indebted to the generous support of our donors, and of the many people who have helped us along the way. Here's a few of their comments and words of support.

The Health Foundation
'Improving quality should be a part of every doctor's job. It is vital that the next generation of doctors has an understanding of the science of quality improvement in healthcare, better equipping them to deliver effective patient care. The Health Foundation is delighted to be able to work with Young Civitas for Medics, which provides a valuable forum for learning, debate and challenge on topical issues in health policy, including quality. The importance of this should not be underestimated.'
Professor Martin Marshall
Director of Clinical Quality, The Health Foundation

Diagnosis
'Diagnosis is a clinical leadership social enterprise. Our principal value is that clinicians have a role in healthcare improvement. We aim to reinvest our profits in ways that will support, inspire and value the development of leadership skills amongst trainees. We believe YCfM is a fantastic initiative to broaden medical students understanding of the wider healthcare economy and are delighted to support them.'
Dr Emma Stanton and Dr Claire Lemer
Founders and Directors of Diagnosis

Wesleyan Medical Sickness
'It's important that medical students understand the environment in which they will be working so they can be more effective and influential in their chosen profession. Wesleyan Medical Sickness is proud to sponsor YCfM and we look forward to seeing its members go from strength to strength as they progress in their careers.'

"Clinical leadership is fundamental to continuously improving the quality of NHS care and the state of population health more broadly. To engage with this task, doctors need to understand the organisational, social and historical context in which they work. I am delighted to see enterprising medical students recognise the value of such understanding themselves, and set up this society to further it."
Professor Sir Liam Donaldson, Chief Medical Officer
"For a long time I have been unhappy about the knowledge medical students have of the NHS and how it works. I often give my students chats about this and about their future working lives within the health service. It's refreshing to see the lead now being taken by students themselves."
Professor Parveen Kumar, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry
"It's so important for medical students and young doctors to be aware of the environment in which they will spend their working lives. I'm sure this initiative will go a long way to help achieving such a goal."
Professor Sir Michael Rawlins, Chairman, NICE
"The NHS has great values at its heart, but is highly complex and if YCfM can cultivate greater knowledge and understanding of its strengths and weaknesses, then it will help to foster a new generation of young doctors to lead both within the service and around the world."
Andrew Vallance-Owen, MBA, FRCSEd, Group Medical Director, BUPA
"Medical students are the profession's future - they carry our vocational torch. We should equip them with the tools to do the job as early as possible and I've no doubt this initiative will greatly help."
Professor Aidan Halligan, Director of Education, UCLH NHS Foundation Trust
